Interview: 'Who's your dad?' Remy Bonjasky

Meet Remy Bonjasky, father of three beautiful children. Cassius 12 years old, Dean 7 years old and Skye, his little girl who is 6 weeks old. Remy is 40 years old and lives in Almere. Not married yet but living together with his girlfriend Renate. Most will know Remy for his boxing career as he became three-time K-1 World Grand Prix champion. Now he owns a kickboxing gym,  presents kickboxing seminars all around the world and he works as a fight sports analyst as well as motivational speaker.




What is the first thing you did when you found out you was becoming a dad? And who was the first one you called?

The first thing I did when I found out I was becoming a dad was putting a big smile on my face, this was the same with all my kids. The first person I called was my mom to share the news with her.


Can you tell us something about how you handle parenting? Are there specific values? What do you teach your children?

Of course the values we all respect are the ones I teach my children, values like giving everybody the same treatment as you want to be treated with.


How did becoming a father change your life?

It changed my life to be more responsible in everything I do, for example, the way I drive my car, less fast than before but even the way I acted during my fight career in the ring. All the decisions I make are not only for myself anymore but for my whole family.


Can you describe your personal style? What are your favorite brands? And If you could only take 6 items of your current wardrobe, what would that be?

Fashionable but neat. My favourite brands are D&G, Armani but I also like brands more young like Milieu, it depends on my mood. Because I also like sporting brands, like Under Armour and Nike.

My 6 items are:

1) My Nike running shoes.

2) My white Filling Pieces shoes.

3) My old vintage D&G denim jeans.

4) My Gucci leather jacket.

5) My black D&G blouse.

6) My white D&G blouse.


Do you often juggle with work and being a father?

Yes, a lot. Because in our society, work is important. You need to provide food for your family. But the time spend with your kids is priceless.




How are the roles divided between you and your partner?

The roles are divided by 70/30, it’s almost the old fashion way. My wife to be is taking more care of the kids.


Is there anything in your partner’s wardrobe you really hate?

There is nothing I really hate in my partner’s wardrobe.


How do you like to see your partner dressed?

High heels and a beautiful tight dress.


What is your favorite destination? And if you have the opportunity to pack your bags with your family to move anywhere in the world, where would that be and why?

Thailand is my favourite destination for vacation. The USA will be a good place to live, for example L.A. or Las Vegas. This because I have been there several times for work & vacation, I speak the languages and I got some friends over there.


Which gadget cannot be missing (out) in a dad’s life?

My Apple laptop and iPhone.




Name a dad with style that inspires you.

Muhammad Ali.


What is your ultimate daddy must-have?

Photo and film camera to collect all the precious moments of my children.


What was the stroller you used for your baby?

Stokke Trailz.


Name any restaurant in the world which is your favorite and why?

Tokyo: Gonpachi Aka The Kill Bill Restaurant.

This restaurant has an amazing cuisine and the staff is super friendly.


What are your favorite holiday destinations with kids?

With the kids my favourite holiday destination is Turkey because they love the waterparks there.




What do you do when you are in need of inspiration?

Talk to my wife. My wife is everything for me and she is very inspirational.


When you go out with your friends, in which club can we find you?

Bamboo club Bucharest.


What’s your favorite drink?



What is the best place to go to with kids in the weekend?

With the kids we love to play sports together and eating pancakes in any good pancake restaurant.


Are you aware of your health? Do you exercise to stay in shape? What are you thoughts on your health?

I am very aware of my health. I exercise every day and I give sport classes every day for several hours. I think it’s very important to live a healthy live by exercising and eating well.

And of course no alcohol, no smoking and no drugs.




What are the three beauty products, which you always have on your bathroom shelf?


Gel curl activator.

Dior Homme, Terre d’Hermes, Bleu de Chanel.


What is your favorite city in the world and why?

Las Vegas because the city never sleeps, 24/7 amusement.


Is there anything you want to do or accomplish.

Building my Bonjasky empire.


Name 3 things on your bucket list?

  • Sky diving.
  • Rio carnival in Brazil.
  • Produce a movie.




What is your favorite family car and why?

The Audi Q7, this car is 100% comfortable and it is very spacious.


Where do we see you in 10 years?

In 10 years I will be relaxing on the beach in Thailand with my 3 kids and beautiful wife or in L.A. doing the same.


Any tips for new dads?

A child is the most precious thing in the world, think about this little miracle every time you have a hard day, it will bring back the twinkle in your eyes.
